Get Rid of Cockroaches

If cockroaches are too much to handle and your pest control guy is not helping you much in any way, then here is a trick to get away with it. 

1. Just mix up equal quantity of boric powder in wheat flour and make a paste by adding water.

2. Now paste small portion of this mixture all over the area wherever u feel cockroaches roam around. 

After a week you will notice that all cockroaches are vanished as if they never existed.

Kitchen Safety

– Do not spray any chemical near burning stove, heater, etc. The sprays to kill cockroaches, mosquitoes, etc is highly flammable and even a single spark in its way will let it catch fire. Be very careful.


– Ensure that there is no electrical wire above the stove burners. Excessive heat from stove may melt it or it may even catch fire.


– Unplug appliances like Microwave, Heater, Toaster, etc. or anything that is not in use.


– Keep sharp tools like knife, fork, etc in a closed place so that by no contact to it even in case of accident like slipping due to slippery floor, etc.


– Clean your kitchen regularly to avoid cockroaches, lizards or any other insects.


– Do not keep chemicals, sprays to kill mosquitoes, cockroaches, rats, etc in the kitchen.


– Sometimes it happens that you just come from spraying a cockroach repellent and go into the kitchen to have water. So, always, no matter where you are coming from, have your hands washed before entering the kitchen or eating anything.

Home Safety

While this covers main points for safety at home, the list is still huge for the home safety. If you have anything else to add to this list, please drop in a comment and I would happily add it to the list here.

– Today, things are advanced, we don’t have much cut off in the electricity and we have invertors that turn on when the power goes off. However, you should put a candle and matchstick box at a common and easily reachable place when all the other things fail to work in dark.

– Unplug Television, music system, computer, geysers, etc when not in use. Some things like geysers, etc are not easy to unplug always but at least when you are going out for a week or more, you should take this pain and unplug devices.

– Maintain a fire extinguisher at home to avoid mishaps. Regularly verify it, for its proper functioning.

– Keep sharp things like scissors, nail cutter, etc in a closed place like drawer, cupboard or at least in a box to avoid the contact by accident.

– Keep repellents like mosquito, cockroach, lizard, etc or rat killers away from reach of children.

– Keep the toilet and bathroom clean.

– Hide heated, hot iron in a safe place where there is no chance of anyone’s contact even by mistake. Don’t leave it at a place where there is cotton, paper, plastic etc may contact easily.

Treatment for Cough or Bad Throat

Take lukewarm water in a glass

Add 1/2 table spoon salt and stir well

Gargle with the salty water couple of times

Follow this process 2-3 times a day until you recover and you’ll see the result yourself.

Don't skip mealsJust for the sake of dieting, do not skip your meals. Skipping meals can adversely affect your health. Just not eating food will not help you carry your dieting efficiently. You may concentrate on low calorie food in your meal. This would really be helpful in your weight loss program.

Choose fresh foods

Always prefer fresh foods over packed ones. Packed foods contain high content of sodium and fat. Quite much fat can be controlled by eating home cooked food than eating junk food like pizzas or burgers!

Don’t be too restrictive

Don't be too restrictive over chocolates, ice-cream.Allow yourself eating the favorite treats you love sometimes, just look for the quantity and frequency of eating them.

Understand nutrition content and labels

Nutrition LabelA product highlighting a “fat-free” tag may not mean that it is low in calories. Similarly a label on product as low-sugar may not mean it is low in fat or calories. Go through the nutrition label on the product.

Watch for sugary drinks

SugarYou may be drinking juices regularly, however, avoid juices containing sugar. Desserts after food are not regularly good. However, for a change, you may have that sometimes.

Keep a food journal

Food JournalMaintain a food journal with you. This will help you in following the everyday diet properly. Get it reviewed by a dietitian if possible.

Exercise for few minutes

Exercise dailyExercising for 30 to 60 minutes is recommended to stay healthy. Exercising not only will help reduce weight but also help you reducing stress level, depression, strength and stamina and hence it will keep you mentally healthy too.

Intake water as much as possible

Drink 8 glasses of water everydayDrink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. It gives you a healthy skin. Water helps to maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite. Drinking adequate amounts of water can decrease the risk many types of diseases. Water aids in digestion and prevents constipation.

Concentrate on the way you eat or drink

Chewing foodThe way of drinking water may also result in formation of a pot belly. Drinking water in one go usually causes this. To avoid it, drink sip by sip. Never be in hurry.

Similarly, chew the food 30 times. This advances the digestion. Definitely, you would count chewing for the first few days. However, after this intial training, your brain would automatically follow it.

Gleaming furniture

Mix equal amounts of oil and lemon juice. Distribute this mixture in two equal parts .Use one part to clean the timber or ken furniture. Use other part, to wipe with a clean, dry cloth. The timber or ken furniture gets shiny.

Clear Microwave

To clean microwave and its utensil take mixture of half cup water and half cup vinegar. Put this mixture in microwave bowl. Microwave it for two minutes. Now clean microwave with ready mixture .Microwave and its utensil will clean and clear.

Fresh refrigerator

To keep refrigerator fresh use baking soda. Spry baking soda on a sponge and clean the inner part of the refrigerator. Then clean sponge with clean water, and again clean Inner and Outer of the refrigerator with this sponge .This will clean refrigerator, also disappear odor too.

Get rid of the viscosity

Do not be bothered by Children’s pasting sticker, price tags or labels. Only take help of vinegar. Dip a napkin in vinegar and continuously rub on place where sticker was paste. Soon you get rid of the viscosity.

Healthy cutting board

Bothered by yellowing of the cutting board and its dirt, the lemon will help. Scrub chopped lemon on cutting board, leave for 20 minutes. Then wash.

Indian Rail Train Position Online – Train Running Information

Do away with the hassle of contacting Railway inquiry office or standing in the long queue to ask a simple question about your train position or the train status.

Problem faced finding Train position

Once we travelled to the station all the way from home only to realize that the train was cancelled due to the railway track problem near Wardha. Had we known that there is a trusted source of information we can rely on, we would have saved our loads of time and efforts of travel. It seems risky to trust a website saying that your train is 8 hours delayed or cancelled altogether. This is mainly because we don’t know any official trusted sources for this information.

However, there exists a site that allows you to track your train’s status. With this site, you save loads of trouble if the train is not starting from or arriving to the station at right time.

After looking on this site we saw that site the train is delayed by 8 hours, we verified through some contacts who were closing working with railway department and it was found that the site gives you real and correct status information of the train.

If, for example, your kids are travelling and you don’t want to disturb them again and again by calling and asking if they reached you can simply search the train on the site and track the train’s position.

The search is quite cool, you can search your train by number or just a few words of the train’s name. It will show you results in seconds and you can choose further.

Tips to Find Indian Rail Train Running Information

If you are unable to search your train by the name you know, try to break the name e.g. Garibrath is searched with “garib rath” (with space)

Alternatively you can just put the end cities in the search for example Nagpur Pune and you should see all the trains, then select your train and find its status.

Download e-Aadhaar Card Online

Download e-Aadhaar Card online through the official portal for UIDAI. Once you have applied the for the aadhaar card, you can check the aadhaar card application status online.

The e-Aadhaar card can be used as a proof temporarily until you receive the original Aadhaar card by post to your registered postal address.

Problem downloading e-Aadhaar Card

If you are not able to download the e-Aadhaar Card online, you may want to check the aadhaar card application status. If the message received on checking the status is “Congratulations ! Your Aadhaar has been successfully generated.You may now download the e-Aadhaar from the Resident Portal.”, the problem has to be something else like a temporary website problem. You may want to try again later.
Other possibility is that the Aadhaar card is not ready yet, once the aadhaar card is ready a message is received on the registered mobile number that the aadhaar card is ready and can be viewed / downloaded online. If you have not received such message, the Aadhaar card is probably not ready yet.

Another message online I have seen while downloading the e-aadhaar card online is: “Sorry, The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Please try again later.UIDAI”. So you may want to try again later.

Aadhaar Card Form in Marathi

Income tax e-filing step by step guide 2017 (with screenshots)

Income Tax e-filing can be done online through the Income Tax website without any cost in 2 different ways:-

  1. By furnishing all details online itself – I like this method because this is simple!
  2. By downloading the Excel Utility and furnishing details in the Excel Utility offline, then uploading on the website.

  1. Click here to visit the Indian income tax e-filing site.
  2. Enter your user ID (PAN Number)
  3. Password (that you had chosen while registering). If you don’t remember your password, click on “Forgot Password” link on the form.
  4. Date of Birth (this is visible once you fill in the PAN number)
  5. Enter the Captcha code. This is to ensure that computer robots are not attacking their site and that it is being accessed by humans. Only human eyes can read a complex image and not a computer. If you can’t read it, you can change the image by clicking the refresh icon next to it or hearing it out loud by clicking the speaker icon. If you still have difficulty accessing it, select “Request OTP” and that will send you OTP number on your registered mobile to verify that a human being is filling the form and not a robot.
  6. Then click “Login”

Prepare and submit income tax e-file

Since a random ID is generated, you cannot follow a specific link to submit the form (even after you are logged in). Hence, as seen in the screenshot below, either follow in the top menu – e-File >> Prepare and Submit Online ITR or on the left hand Quick Link navigation, click “Quick e-File ITR”.

  1. Type in your PAN number
  2. Select ITR-1 in ITR Form Name field
  3. Choose the Assessment Year. Here, you should select the year you are filing for. E.g. most people would file for FY17 so they would select FY 2016-17.
  4. Pre-fill Address with:
    Choose appropriate. Hint: If PAN Database or Previously Return Filed doesn’t have the correct information, you can fill it and save.
  5. Digital Sign: If you don’t know what Digital Sign means, probably you don’t have one and you can simply select No and move on.
  6. Click Submit

On submitting, you would see the Instructions tab. It is a good idea to read it before you proceed.

Important points to note:

  1. Do not press Back button
  2. Save Draft at regular intervals to avoid on losing saved information due to auto session expiry sign-out
  3. Do not Press Enter – it would submit the form

As shown below, only use Save Draft or Arrow Keys to save the currently filled information as a draft or to navigate between different tabs. Do not click Back button of the browser, it may need you to re-login.

Even if your session expires, do not worry; you can again open the last saved draft version by re-login.

Start filling the details in the various tabs and verify before you submit.

Procedure for income tax e-filing using Excel Utility

The following Article Illustrates 8 Simple Steps for strong>Income Tax efiling by downloading the Excel Utility

  1. Log on to and select the Income Tax Return Form for your type of Income. There are various different Income Tax Return forms for different class of assessees.
  2. Furnish all details in the downloaded Excel Utility and also required to cross check the same with the figures as mentioned in your Form 16 / Form 16A and Form 26AS.
  3. Generate a XML file for the purpose of Income Tax efiling (The procedure for generating XML File for Income Tax e-filing is explained below).
  4. After generating the XML file from the Excel Utility, logon to your account on the Income Tax Website and then Select “Submit Return” from the relevant options on the left panel. (In case, you are doing Income Tax e-filing online for the 1st time, you would first need to create an account on the Income Tax website).
  5. Browse to select XML file and click on “Upload” button.
  6. On successful upload, the site will display acknowledgement details. The site will automatically generate and send an ITR-V to your registered email ID.
  7. In case while e-filing income tax return you used your Digitally Signatures to digitally sign the Income Tax Return Form, the whole process will be complete on generation of “Acknowledgement”.
  8. However, in case while e-filing income tax return , you didn’t use Digital Signatures, on successful uploading of e-Return, the site will automatically generate and send an ITR-V to your registered email ID. Tax payer should sign this ITR-V acknowledgement form and send to the Income Tax office.

Sending your income tax acknowledgement by post

After preparing and submitting the Income Tax Return online, you will need to take a printout of the ITR-V acknowledgement form, sign it and send it to the Income Tax Department office by post.


  1. The due date for Income Tax e-filing is 31st July for assessee’s not required to get their Tax Audit done. For all assessee’s required to get their Tax Audit done, the Due Date is 30th September.
  2. All Income Tax dues (after deducting the TDS and Advance Tax paid) computed as per the Income Tax Slabs are required to be paid before filing the Income Tax Return

The Address for sending duly signed ITR-V form is:

Please post strictly by ordinary post or speed post only, within 120 days of transmitting the data electronically.

In case, Form ITR-V, is furnished after the end of 120 days from the date of filing of Income Tax Return, it will be deemed that the return in respect of which the Form ITR-V has been filed was never furnished. It shall be incumbent on the Tax Payer to electronically re-transmit the data and follow it up by submitting the new Form ITR-V within 120 days. This completes the income tax e-filing process for non-digitally signed Returns.

In case if there was any error incurred in Income Tax e-filing and you realized it later, you can always file a Revised Return of Income u/s 139(5) before the expiry of 1 year from the end of the relevant assessment year or before the completion of assessment (whichever is earlier).
