Buying New Digital Camera

Read the following tips before marching to a digital camera shop for buying new digital camera.

Match megapixels to your use:

Most point-and-shoot cameras offer at least 5 megapixels, which is plenty for producing 11-by-14-inch prints. Cameras with more megapixels will yield even larger prints and allow you to blow up a part of an image with less likelihood that the print will be blurry. If you plan to make only 4-by-6-inch prints, you don’t have to shoot at the camera’s highest resolution-and as a result, you can fit more shots on your memory card.

Look for rechargeable batteries and a charger:

The cost of disposable batteries adds up over the long run. Some cameras can use AA batteries of any type-disposable or rechargeable. That capability can be helpful if your rechargeable batteries run out of juice and you don’t want to wait while they replenish.

Disregard digital zoom:

Most cameras offer at least 3X optical zoom-and some boast an optical zoom as high as 15X. But sometimes vendors tout a high total zoom that includes digital zoom, which you should disregard: Digital zoom produces photos that are inferior to those produced with an optical zoom.

Look for a low-light focusing aid:

Some cameras have auxiliary lights that help them focus in dim settings. That’s important for many indoor shots.

Try the camera before you buy:

Some cameras have commands and menus that are easier to use than others, a comparison you can make only with a hands-on trial. Also evaluate the lag time between when you press the shutter button and when the camera actually takes the picture. Try the zoom lens-does it operate quickly and smoothly? Find out how long you must wait between taking pictures. And try the LCD viewfinder-in the sun if possible-to determine how easy it is to read.

Give extra consideration to a camera with a good selection of software:

Look for useful packages such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, Ulead PhotoImpact, and Corel Snapfire for editing images, as well as applications for organizing and sharing them.

Don’t base your decision on video capability:

Any still camera’s ability to take moving pictures is limited. If you want to shoot video, invest in a camcorder dedicated to the job.

Consider investing in a memory card reader or a camera dock:

A memory card reader acts like an external hard drive attached to your PC or laptop, allowing you to download pictures directly from your camera’s storage media. Many newer laptops have one or more memory card slots built in, as do some inkjet printers. If you have a second memory card, you can keep shooting while the images download, rather than having to keep the camera hooked up to your PC. Alternatively, some cameras come with a dock or offer one as an option, and some of these docks offer a dedicated button for uploading all of your new photos on a memory card. A dock also charges the camera’s battery.

Enabling Sound Drivers on Windows Server 2008

There was an urge to listen to a devotional song this morning at work because a client call canceled.

But my machine is Windows Server 2008 which doesn’t have the Sound Drivers automatically installed. I logged a ticket to Helpdesk too!

Tried plugging in the headphones jack to different ports but that did not work.

Finally, went to control panel, clicked on Sound icon and it asked me a pop-up saying that the audio is diabaled and if I wish to enable it.

After enabling, woooa! The sound started playing!

If you still face problems listening the audio, ensure that the jack is inserted into the correct port. Sometimes the port present in the front (easy access panel) may not work. In such, cases, insert the jack into the port behind the CPU, if its not laptop 😉

Sell Your Car for Most

3 Fast Tips on How To Sell Your Car for the Most.

Tip 1 – Pick your time. If you can possibly help it, don’t sell your car after Christmas, when no one has any money. Consider holiday periods: will the people be in town or away. Sometimes this can work in your favour because if people are not at work they have more time to look for cars, and they are usually cashed up with nothing to do.

On the reverse side, when buyers are busy working, they don’t have the time to do a lot of car shopping, which can make negotiating easier.

Additionally for this reason, if you get a buyer to come on a week-night, it is unlikely he can compare yours to other cars – which can sometimes work in your favor.

Tip 2 – First Impressions are everything Just like you are going on a date – first impressions are everything. Get all the rubbish and junk out of it. Deodorize it. Wash it, clean it.

Tip 3 – As the good boy scout says. Be prepared. Get your paperwork in order. Find the spare keys. You don’t want to be rushing around at the last minute, just when the buyer is ready to go for it. You can’t find something. He may just say, he’ll get back to you. Believe me, it happens. So get organized before hand and you’ll have a much smoother run of it.

Vishing

What Is Vishing?
Vishing is a combination of Voice and Phishing that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology wherein fraudsters feigning to represent real companies such as banks attempt to trick unsuspecting customers into providing their personal and financial details over the phone.

How The Fraudsters Operate?
A typical vishing attack could follow a sequence such as this:

  • The fraudster sets up an automatic dialler which uses a modem to call all the phone numbers in a region.
  • When the phone is answered, an automated recording is played to alert the customer that his/her credit card has had illegal activity and that the customer should call the recorded phone number immediately. The phone number is with a caller identifier that makes it appear that they are calling from the financial company they are feigning to represent.
  • When the customer calls the number, it is answered by a computer-generated voice that tells the customer they have reached ‘account verification’ and instructs the consumer to enter his/her 16-digit credit card number on the key-pad. A visher may not have any real information about the customer and would address the customer as ‘Sir’ and ‘Madam’ and not by name or the prefix ‘Mr….’ or ‘Ms…’.
  • Once a customer enters his/her credit card number, the "visher" has all of the information necessary to place fraudulent charges on his/her card. Those responding are also asked for the security number found on the rear of the card.
  • The call can then be used to obtain additional details such as security PIN, expiry date, date of birth, bank account number, etc.

Tips To Protect Yourself From Vishing

  • Your bank would have knowledge of some of your personal details. Be suspicious of any caller who appears to be ignorant of basic personal details like first and last name (although it is unsafe to rely on this alone as a sign that the call is legitimate). If you receive such a call, report it to your bank.
  • Do not call and leave any personal or account details on any telephone system that you are directed to by a telephone message or from a telephone number provided in a phone message, an e-mail or an SMS especially if it is regarding possible security issues with your credit card or bank account.
  • When a telephone number is given, you should first call the phone number on the back of your credit card or on your bank statement to verify whether the given number actually belongs to the bank

Dynamic printing using different trays in Smartforms

This article explains how we can do the dynamic tray interchange for printing of smartforms in other words – Dynamic printing using different trays in Smartforms.

Dynamic printing using different trays in Smartforms

Requirement: There were two pages for delivery note which needs to be printed from two different tray’s of the printer. Reason behind this is, One tray will contain pre-printed stationary and other will have normal paper. This was something which I had never done and I was not able to locate anything from the web so thought of creating page for the benefit of others.

Analysis:  SAP has provided one field in the smartform where we can specify the resources for printing and there we can define the trays. But it is totally static; with the help of ABAP we can make it dynamic to achieve such requirement that I did for my client.

The screenshot shows the resource field available on the Smartform to specify static tray of printer.

Realization:  So the realization of this requirement is explained below:

  • This requirement was for the Delivery note smartforms.
  • In the requirement the main page of Del Note needs to be printed on the pre-printed stationary and the item texts will be printed on the normal page.
  • The pre printed stationary will be kept in either of the Tray of the printer that total depends upon the configuration i.e., it is totally dynamic we have to change the trays dynamically on the runtime.
  • In my case the configuration will be done on the basis of output type I think it will remain same throughout the SAP for smartform printing.

The screen shots below shows the step by step reliazation of the functionality:

  • Declare constants in the Initialization part of the smartforms.

  • These are the values which we can pass in the field Resource name.
  • As per my clients specification the Printer name will be configured like   ‘ABC_T1’ for Tray 1,’ABC_T2’ for Tray 2 and so on.
  • ·In the Initialization part we need to capture the name of the Printer specified by the user.

In the screen shot above  we need to specify the Dynamic trays’s If there is item text available otherwise no need of dynamic conversion.

So If the item text is available we are using Conversion exit to get the actual printer name as specified by the user.

Import nast-ldest and in the variable l_printer you will get the name of the printer.

  • As specified in the above point that the naming convention of printer will contain ‘_T1’ for tray 1 and like that, we are checking the variable for the specified string and accordinglly assigning the tray number to the variable.
  • After assigment of the variable we have to pass these variables to the resource name field. As shown below.

  • By this dynamic tray interchange for printing of smartforms can be achieved.

Resolving Error 40607 – Windows logins are not supported in this version of SQL Server

This is based on my experience and resolution of the issue Windows logins are not supported in this version of SQL Server [Error 40607].

The issue was occurring while running the application which was associated with the database on another server. The problem was in the connection string. The developer had developed the application with Integrated Windows Security which did not work for this kind of application I believe where the server is not the same (localhost).

The Integrated Security should be set to false or should be removed altogether to overcome this issue.

The User Name and Password information may be added:

<add name="DefaultConnection" connectionString="Data Source=DatabaseServerName;Initial Catalog=DatabaseName;MultipleActiveResultSets=True;User ID=DatabaseUserName;Password=DatabasePassword" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Let me know if this one was helpful.
